Mirror Ireland

Wood is a natural material with variations of colour shade, configuration, streaks, and grain structure. Each Traditional Irish Mirror has characteristic markings that will differ from photo and showroom samples. When you put fine furniture into your home or office, give it the care it deserves. Regular attention and maintenance of your mirror can ensure its beauty for many years to come. These natural woods and veneers have been sealed and polished with durable lacquers and require very little maintenance. Your Traditional Irish Mirror has a protective lacquer finish that most likely will not require any care other than dusting.

Periodically rub a soft cloth over your mirror's wood surface to remove dust. You can also use a pre-treated dusting cloth or a very soft vacuum accessory brush to attract dust without scratching the finish.

Silicone can damage the lacquers and subsequently will make refinishing your Traditional Irish Mirror very difficult. Lemon oil and other oil-based polishes should also be avoided because they attract dust and grit, and cause a hazy film on the finish. Do not set synthetics, rubber or plastics on the mirror shelf as they might contain chemicals that will damage the finish.

To remove minor stains or caked on dirt, wipe with a soft damp cloth. Oily stains can be removed using a cloth damp with a mixture of warm water and very mild soap. Dry the piece thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth. To avoid scratching, you should blot, rather than wipe spills.

Minor damage may be touched up with a furniture touch-up pencil, which can be purchased at a local hardware store.  Buy a set of light, medium and dark markers, and start with the lightest colour touch-up marker.  Contact our customer services info@mirrorireland.com if further repairs are necessary.

Wood is a natural product and as a result sun bleaching will occur when wood furniture is exposed to sunlight. This will cause darker finishes to lighten and sometimes cause lighter finishes to darken. For this reason, try to avoid placing your Traditional Irish Mirror in direct sunlight. Slight bleaching will also occur under both incandescent and fluorescent lighting.

Wood finishes will change in appearance as they are used.  Items with low sheen finishes tend to develop an increased sheen over time.  Slight variations in appearance and the fit of joints and seams will result from the normal expansion and contraction of wood as it responds to climatic changes in the home.  Many wood species darken or redden with age. These changes in tone, fit, finish, and texture are normal signs of aging and are not covered by any warranty.

Most timbers will absorb stain differently.  Each vendor's version of a certain finish such as "Mahogany" will be different. Finishes change as they age.  Because of these issues, Mirror Ireland expressly will not match wood finishes to pieces already in your home, or guarantee a perfect stain match from mirror to mirror. Minor variations will always be present, regardless of cost.
